Stock Market Today: Sensex and Nifty started the week with improvement today. After heavy profit booking in the market last Friday, Sensex today rose by more than 400 points to reach 74359.69 points. At 11 am, Nifty was also trading at 305 points and 22504 points. With this the market cap on BSE is Rs. 404.70 lakh crore.
187 stocks reached year's highest level
By 11 am today, 187 shares on BSE reached year's highest level. Stocks including Gujarat Themis, Hindustan Motors, Jyoti Labs, Mahindra & Mahindra, NMDC hit year's high. Zomato shares fell to 195.45 after touching a yearly high of 201.95 points. 21 scrips hit year's low. Till 11.10 am, upper circuit was seen in 216 stocks and lower circuit was seen in 235 stocks.

Out of 3830 shares on BSE, 1284 shares are trading higher and 2334 shares are trading lower. Today in the Sensex pack, 10 stocks including Kotak Bank, TCS, JSW Steel, Infosys, IndusInd Bank are trading with a rise of 1 to 6 percent. Stock-specific shares have seen a rise on positive quarterly results.
Sensex and Nifty rose on hopes of weaker than expected US employment data, strong quarterly corporate results, improving economic conditions, recovery in overseas markets and increased buying by foreign investors.
