Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, who is often in the headlines, is now going to play an important role. Kareena Kapoor was made the National Ambassador of UNICEF on 4 May. Expressing happiness over this honour, he said, 'Every child will get his due.'
Working in more than 190 countries, UNICEF spreads awareness about saving children's lives through vaccination. Recently the actress participated in UNICEF's Every Child programme, where she urged parents to get their children vaccinated on time. The actress talks about her journey with UNICEF on becoming the National Ambassador of UNICEF India.
During a conversation on becoming the National Ambassador, the actress said, 'My journey with UNICEF started a decade ago. During this journey I have interacted with teachers, parents and children. I have seen the children and understand what their needs are. I have waited ten years for this and have worked very hard with everyone, now I feel very proud to have achieved this milestone. This is a big responsibility in itself, which I accept wholeheartedly.
Actress Kareena Kapoor further said, 'Every child from every corner of India, wherever he is, whoever he is, is equal for me. When I am talking about a child it is not important to see what its gender is. I will work to ensure that every child, whether able-bodied or disabled, gets his or her rights.
