Nepal News: Map of controversial script printed in Nepal's 100 rupee note

Neighboring country Nepal had announced to print new notes of Rs 100 daily. In which Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani areas have been shown in the map of the country. Which India has already considered as artificial expansion. However, controversy has arisen over this disputed map. Because according to this map both the countries declare themselves as their respective countries, hence there has been a big controversy regarding the place in the currency note.

Nepal government spokesperson Rekha Sharma informed the journalists about the cabinet's decision. He said that in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda, it was decided to print a new map of Nepal, in which Lipulesha, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani will be included in the Rs 100 note.

The map printed in Rs 100 note is a cause of controversy for both the countries.

Rekha Sharma is also holding the charge of Information and Communication Minister. He said that during the cabinet meeting held on April 25 and May 2, the cabinet approved the new design of Rs 100 bank note and changing the old map printed in the background of the bank note.

On June 18, 2020, Nepal completed the process of amending its constitution to include the strategically important areas of Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura in the political map of its country.

India reacted sharply to this and termed it as unilateral action and artificial expansion and support of Nepal's territorial claims. India claims Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura. Nepal shares more than 1850 km long border with five Indian states of Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
