8 day sweep voting awareness campaign concluded in NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, May 3 (Hindustan Reporter) The eight-day SVEEP (Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program concluded on Friday at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar. The program was organized under the Students Gymkhana of NIT Srinagar in which various clubs participated from 26 April to 3 May 2024. Organized various types of programs.

Director of NIT Srinagar, Professor A. Ravinder Nath flagged off and participated in the voting awareness rally from Fountain Park to Professor's Quarters along with senior JNU professors. He stressed the importance of voting and encouraged students to get involved in the voting process.

In the last 8 days many exciting activities took place on the campus to promote voter awareness among the students. Starting from 26th April, several activities were coordinated by Dr. Sumaira of Rhetorika and Eco Cult Club. About 50 students participated in the program. They engaged in raising awareness through monologue performances and slogan-making competitions, setting an initial enthusiastic atmosphere.

On 27th April, the Sports Club organized an awareness run with the Girls Unit of NCC in collaboration with Lt. Dr. Nitika Kundan, NCC Women's Wing Officer, NIT Srinagar in which around 150 student participants participated. The momentum continued on 28th April when Sargam Club under the leadership of Dr. Janani organized an exciting program featuring various performances including classical dance, music, flash mob and film like dance sequences. Around 300 students actively participated in this event. On 29th April, Dr. Dinesh K. The Culture Club and Soapbox, coordinated by Rajendran, hosted a lively range of activities including rangoli making, painting sessions and street theater performances. About 250 students participated in these cultural activities.

Moving forward on 30th April, the Movie Club in coordination with Dr. Parameshwara showcased reels made by students highlighting the importance of voting. 29 teams and approximately 100 students participated in the event. The Movie Club then hosted a program featuring reels created by students highlighting the importance of voting in coordination with Dr. Parameshwara. These short films aim to educate and inspire the audience about the importance of their election participation. Around 29 teams submitted reels and 100 students participated.

On 1 May, the Technology Club under the leadership of Dr. Iqra Gilani conducted mock polling with a specially designed EVM machine. 523 students, teachers and staff participated in this mock election along with ideathon and quiz competitions. On 2 May the Stargazing Club organized an awareness rally which was flagged off by Director NIT Srinagar Professor Ravinder A Nath. More than 70 students participated and later took an oath to vote for the betterment of the nation. On the last day on 3rd May, Photography Club under the leadership of Dr. Sparsh Sharma organized a digital poster designing and sketching competition to spread awareness among the students.

Finally on 3rd May, Photography Club under the leadership of Dr. Sparsh Sharma organized digital poster designing and sketching competitions to spread awareness among the students with the theme 'SrinagarWillVote'. The program concluded with a speech by the Director on Voter Awareness Promotion.
