Ranchi, 30 April (HS). Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Neha Arora said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, more than Rs 71 crore 11 lakh has been seized in Jharkhand. It contains more than Rs 5 crore 18 lakh cash including illegal liquor and drugs etc. She was speaking at a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan Dhurva on Tuesday.
Neha said that due to law and order in the state, action has been taken to cancel 817 out of 18577 arms licenses in the state. The owners of the weapons that had their licenses canceled had not got them verified. He informed that 14 nominations have been received for the fifth phase of elections. Of these, nine nominations have been made in Chatra, four in Koderma and one in Hazaribagh. There have been eight nominations so far for the sixth phase. Of these, one nomination has been received in Giridih, two in Dhanbad, two in Ranchi and three in Jamshedpur. He said that the voter awareness campaign by the Election Commission is continuing through various mediums.
