Three day ultimatum fulfilled, no arrest made

Jodhpur, 30 April (HIST). Anger has been expressed over the lack of action yet in the case of assault on Congress candidate's son and his supporters in BJS Colony during the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Jodhpur. Congress leaders including Congress candidate Karan Singh Uchiarada, Municipal Corporation North Mayor Kunti Parihar met DCP (East) Alok Srivastava on Tuesday and demanded immediate arrest of the accused in this case.

It is noteworthy that on April 26, the day of voting, Congress and BJP workers had clashed with each other outside the Girls School in New BJS Colony on suspicion of fake voting. Congress candidate Karansingh Uchiyarda's son Harshvardhan and nephew Abhimanyu Singh along with some supporters were beaten and stoned. Then, under the leadership of Congress, Congress candidates, leaders and workers sat on a fast on the spot demanding the arrest of the accused. The fast was ended on the assurance of arrest within three days, but even after three days of ultimatum, the accused in the case have not been arrested. On this, Congress candidate Karan Singh, Mayor Kunti Parihar, former Minister of State Rajendra Singh Solanki, former MLA Manisha Panwar and other Congress leaders and public representatives met DCP East today and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. He also accused the police of negligence.
