New Delhi, 20 February (HS). The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has added a net of 15.62 lakh members in December. EPFO, the body that manages the retirement fund, has given this information.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Labor and Employment said that EPFO has added a net number of 15.62 lakh members in December. This is the highest in the last three months. According to the latest payroll data released by EPFO, there has been an increase of 11.97 percent in the number of members during December, 2023 as compared to November.
According to the ministry, according to the provisional payroll data of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, the body added a net 15.62 lakh members in December. This is an increase of 4.62 percent compared to December 2022. According to the data, about 8.41 lakh new members have been enrolled during the month of December.
According to payroll data, the share of 18-25 age group in the total new members added during this period is 57.18 percent. This shows that most of the members joining the organized sector workforce of the country are youth. Apart from this, about 12.02 lakh members who went out of EPFO schemes in December have returned.
According to the Labor Ministry, out of the total 8.41 lakh new members added to the body, about 2.09 lakh are women members, who have joined EPFO for the first time. This number shows an increase of 3.54 percent compared to November 2023. According to the data, maximum members joined in December from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Haryana.
