According to the police, Laxman Prasad (14) and his younger brother Bharat Prasad (8) were sleeping in their hut in Siswa village when the fire broke out. Lakshman somehow saved Bharat by pulling him out of the burning hut but he himself got trapped inside and died on the spot.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the fire engulfed four huts in the village, a senior police officer said, adding that the minor brothers were taking an afternoon nap in one of the huts.
“The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when four houses caught fire in Siswa village, leading to a gas cylinder explosion. A 14-year-old boy, Laxman Prasad, died in the fire incident, while his 8-year-old brother Bharat Prasad sustained burn injuries, circle officer (CO) Aditya Kumar Gautam said.
CO Gautam said that Bharat was taken to the hospital for treatment where his condition is said to be stable.
The police have started investigation to find out the cause of the fire and the boy's body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway, the official said.
