Hisar, 26 April (Hissar). Deepak Kumar Punia, captain of the Haryana men's rugby (7s) team and resident of Kanoh village, Hisar, will captain the Indian team in the Asian Division 1 Rugby (15s) Championship. Earlier this honor was received by Vikas Khatri alias Chhotu of Sonipat.
Haryana State Rugby Football Association Secretary Narendra Mor said on Friday that the Asia Men's Rugby (15s) Division 1 Championship will be held in Sri Lanka from April 30 to May 5. Teams from Asia Men's Rugby (15s) Division 1 will participate in it. He told that Deepak Kumar Punia is the shining young face of the Indian rugby team. Deepak will be given the captaincy of the Indian team in the Asian Division 1 Rugby (15s) Championship. Earlier, Deepak has also successfully captained the Haryana men's rugby (7s) team in the national competition and national games, where the team won gold medals.
Apart from Deepak, Prince Khatri, Mohit Khatri, Neeraj have been included in the Indian team from Haryana. The head coach of the Indian team will be Naas Bothe (South Africa), forward coach Kiano (South Africa) and assistant coach Terence (Kolkata). He told that the Indian team will leave for Sri Lanka on April 28. On this occasion, Haryana Rugby President Sarvinder, Vice President Manish Khatri, Treasurer Tilak Raj etc. congratulated the team.
