Bhopal, 26 April (HS). In the second phase of Lok Sabha Elections-2024, voting started at 7 am on Friday at 12 thousand 828 polling stations in six parliamentary constituencies of Madhya Pradesh amid tight security arrangements. There is a lot of enthusiasm towards voting among the voters. There are long queues at polling stations since morning.
State Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that in the second phase, voting is being held for six Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh – Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa and Hoshangabad. Adequate security arrangements have been made for peaceful voting. 2,865 sensitive polling stations have been set up.
A total of 80 candidates are trying their luck on these seats. These include 75 men, four women and one third gender candidate from Damoh Lok Sabha seat. Rajan said that seven candidates are in the fray in Tikamgarh, 14 in Damoh, 14 in Khajuraho, 19 in Satna, 14 in Rewa and 12 in Hoshangabad. Maximum 19 candidates are in the fray in Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency No. 9 Satna and least 7 candidates are in the fray in Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency No. 6 Tikamgarh. Voting will be held in these parliamentary constituencies till 6 pm.
In this phase, one crore 11 lakh 62 thousand 460 voters of the state will be able to exercise their franchise. These include 19,97,483 voters in Khajuraho region, 19,25,314 in Damoh, 18,55,692 in Hoshangabad, 18,52,126 in Rewa, 18,26,585 in Tikamgarh and 17,05,260 lakh voters in Satna.
