Samba, April 25 (Hindustan Reporter) Under Operation Sanjeevani, conducted by Samba Police under the guidance of SSP Samba Vinay Sharma against drug abuse, Police Station Badi Brahmana on Thursday seized drug money and heroin (chitta) worth about Rs 6 lakh from the house/kulla of a notorious drug smuggler.
It is said that Police Station Badi Brahmana had received information from a reliable secret source that a notorious drug smuggler named Mohammad Baru and his associates were selling Chitta near Balol Khad, Badi Brahmana and were in possession of drug money. On this information, a search team led by SHO Badi Brahmana Sumit Sharma, PSI Ibrar Ul Haq, Naib Tehsildar Badi Brahmana Rahul Singh Rana, SDPO Badi Brahmana Mukund Tibrewal reached the spot and conducted a thorough search of Kulla.
Upon search, drug money worth Rs 5,88,660 and 9.54 grams of Heroin (Chitta) were recovered from the house/Kulla of Mohammad Baru. However, the said drug smuggler and his associate managed to escape from the spot. The search for both the drug smugglers is going on. Both the drug money and the chitta have been seized by Police Station Badi Brahmana under FIR No. 52/2024 under Section 8/21/27-A/29 of the NDPS Act. It is also told that NDPS cases have already been registered against drug smuggler Mohammad Baru. Police station Badi Brahmana has started a detailed investigation into the case including financial investigation to unearth the past links.
This strict action against drug trade has been taken in the backdrop of confiscation of various properties of drug dealers in Samba. This reflects the tireless determination of the Samba Police to eliminate the drug menace from the district. Police request the residents/citizens to come forward and help the police in controlling the drug problem which is seriously affecting the youth of this country.
