Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has decided to impose a two-hour traffic block on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway today i.e. Tuesday, April 23. This block will last from 12 noon to 2 pm. Vehicular movement will remain completely closed during the block. According to MSRDC, the work of installing equipment will be done on the Pune-Mumbai route of the highway during the block.
The administration has appealed to the drivers to use alternative routes during the block. Keeping in mind the convenience of the drivers, MSRDC has made arrangements to divert vehicles going from Pune to Mumbai on Pune National Highway No. 48 from Khopoli town towards Mumbai.
Will be diverted from Mumbai-Pune Highway
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has banned movement of all light and heavy vehicles, while an alternative route has been launched for commuters. Vehicles coming from Pune to Mumbai will be diverted through the old Mumbai-Pune Highway (NH 48). Vehicles will have to pass through Khopoli and head towards Mumbai via Shedung toll plaza. The ongoing work on the expressway will reduce the travel time between Pune and Mumbai by 30 minutes as the stretch is already heavily trafficked.
Presently the length of Mumbai Pune Expressway from Khopoli exit to Sinhagarh Institute is 19 km which will be reduced by about 13 km after construction of the missing link. The total length from Mumbai to Pune will be reduced by 6 km and travel time will be reduced by 20-25 minutes.
