Gurugram, 22 April (HS). Haryana State Pollution Control Board Chairman P. Raghavendra Rao held a meeting with officials of Municipal Corporation, Pollution Control Board, Police and other departments at the office of Municipal Corporation, Manesar on Monday. During this, he ordered the officials to prepare necessary action plan to control pollution in Manesar and surrounding areas. He also asked the officials to lay emphasis on increasing greenery in Manesar area.
Chairman P. Raghavendra Rao said that Municipal Corporation Manesar should form a joint committee of officials of Pollution Control Board, HSIIDC, Traffic Police, GMDA and PWD under the chairmanship of Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg and prepare an action plan to control pollution. He told the Municipal Corporation officials that hotspot areas in and around Manesar should be identified and converted into green spots. In the meeting, he was informed that there are a total of 183 Bulk Waste Generators (BWG) in the Municipal Corporation area, which include 76 societies, 12 hotels, 23 banquet halls, 47 educational institutions and 25 restaurants. These BWGs are inspected from time to time by the Municipal Corporation team. If any irregularity is found regarding processing then challan is issued.
On this, the Chairman said that all the departments should hold a joint meeting with these BWG operators and motivate them for processing. While instructing the officers of the police department, he said that they should identify such roads and intersections in Gurugram where the traffic is affected due to pedestrian passengers, so that the possibility of options like foot over bridge etc. can be explored there. On this, the police department official said that some places have been identified and a list of other places will be made soon.
He also directed to take strict action against those dumping C&D and industrial waste illegally. He also said that such places should be identified where this type of waste is lying in abundance. Industrial organizations should be involved to deal with this. Also, CCTVs should be installed at garbage dumping sites, so that vehicles dumping garbage can be traced and caught. He instructed the officials attending the meeting to plant as many trees as possible in open spaces, central verges and parks. Suggestions were also given to take cooperation of private companies to increase greenery.
