Jalandhar: The video of the groom appealing to the brides to vote for the BSP candidate and playing the song 'MP Balwinder Jawa' in favor of the candidate during the wedding ceremony has become a topic of discussion on the internet media. It so happened that BSP supporter Sandeep Kumar, resident of Haripur Khalsa village of Phillaur Assembly constituency of Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency, had also invited BSP candidate Advocate Balwinder Kumar to his marriage ceremony. When Balwinder reached the wedding, the groom welcomed him and appealed to the brides to vote in his favor. The candidate was introduced to everyone by putting his picture on the screen and a pre-prepared song was also played in his favour. The candidate also addressed the people present at the wedding.
In this regard, District Election Officer Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal says that he has not received any complaint yet. If this has happened in any marriage then investigation will be conducted. If the instructions of the Election Commission are violated, action will be taken as per rules.
Expenses can be added to the account of the candidate or party
According to the guidelines of the Election Commission, during the election process, if any appeal is made in support of any candidate or political party in any program, then the details of the expenses related to it are collected. A notice has also been sent to the organizer of the event. If the Election Commission is not satisfied with the reply to the notice, then the cost of posters, banners, cards, flags and sound system used for campaigning can be included in the expenses of the candidate. If a candidate is not declared then it is included in the election campaign expenditure of the party concerned.
