Doordarshan's new logo: Public broadcaster Doordarshan has changed the color of its historical logo from red to saffron. The announcement in this regard was made in a post from the official X handle of DD News, which said, 'While our values remain the same, we are now available in a new avatar. Get ready for a news journey like never seen before… Experience the all new DD News… However, the opposition seems to be upset with this change.
Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP and former CEO of Prasar Bharati (DD, AIR) Jawahar Sarkar criticized the logo change, calling it a 'panacea for television'. He wrote on social media platform X that 'National broadcaster Doordarshan has colored its historical flagship logo in saffron! As its former CEO, I watch his departure with concern and emotion. This is no longer Prasar Bharati, this is Prachar Bharati.
'This government is trying to capture institutions'
Congress leader Manish Tiwari alleged that changing the color of Doordarshan's logo is an attempt by the government to capture government institutions. It is noteworthy that he was the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting from 2012 to 2014 during the UPA government.
Andhra Pradesh State Vice President of BJP said, 'When Doordarshan started in 1959, its logo was saffron. The government has adopted the original logo, but liberals and Congress are expressing displeasure over it. This shows that he hates saffron and Hindus. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya hit back at the opposition leaders and said, 'These people hate saffron color very much. These people cannot enjoy saffron colour… These people are just appeasers.
Changes made keeping visual aesthetics in mind
Defending Doordarshan's decision, Prasar Bharti CEO Gaurav Dwivedi said, 'The new orange logo is visually appealing and this change has been made keeping in mind the visual aesthetics. The color of the logo is orange, not saffron. He said, 'Not only has the logo changed, but we have upgraded the entire look and feel of DD. It is unfortunate that people are making sharp comments on this. We have been working on changing the format and format of DD for the last six-eight months. Sources in Prasar Bharati said that it is wrong to associate the new logo with colors associated with BJP. He said, 'In the last few years, Doordarshan has changed the colors of its logo to blue, yellow and red. However, no changes have been made to the logo. The two petals and the central globe remain the same.
