Jaipur, 20 April (HS). Prakhar Asawa of Rambagh Golf Club, Jaipur recently showcased his skills at the newly-launched national golf tournament, Gurgaon Open 2024, held at the Classic Golf & Country Club in Nuh, Haryana. Along with Prakhar, many top Indian professionals like Manu Gandas, Rashid Khan, Aman Raj, Karan Pratap Singh, Sachin Baisoya and Udayan Mane and many leading international players also participated in this competition.
Amidst the challenging wind conditions and difficult pin positions in this exciting game, Asawa displayed excellent skills, playing a level par 72 on the final day to finish sixth with a total score of 277. Prakhar started the round with 2 bogeys and later came back to level with 3 birdies and 3 bogeys. In a remarkable display of accuracy and consistency he carded -3,-3,-5 and par over 4 days of tough golfing conditions and cemented his name at the highest level of golf in the country. This is the best performance by any golfer from Rajasthan in a long time.
M Dharma of Bengaluru emerged as the winner in this tournament. He topped the leaderboard with a score of four-under 68 on the final day and a five-shot lead with a total of 270. Prakhar shared the sixth position with Rahil Gangji, Udayan Mane, Rajeev K Jatiwal, Tapi Ghai and Sachin Baisoya.
Prominent foreign names in the field include Sri Lanka's N Thangaraja and K Prabhakaran, Bangladesh's Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain as well as rookies including PGTI Qualifying School winner Matias Dominguez of Chile, Nepal's Subhash Tamang, Italy's Michele Ortolani and Czechia's Stefan Denek remained involved.
