New Delhi: The central government will issue a new notification to ban the import, breeding and sale of several dangerous breeds of dogs. Taking this statement of the Central Government on record, the bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan Singh and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora of Delhi High Court has rejected the notification issued on March 12.
During the hearing, the Central Government's lawyer said that if instructions have been given to issue a new notification, then there is no objection in canceling the previous notification.
It is not possible to give the dog owner an opportunity of oral hearing
The Court said that it is not possible to give every dog owner an opportunity of being heard orally, therefore the Central Government should publish a written proposal within two weeks in a national newspaper as well as on the official website of the Ministry.
Ban on 23 breeds of dogs
Giving this direction, the court disposed of the petitions challenging the notification. The petition said that 23 dog breeds were banned without consultation, objection and suggestions from the concerned parties.
