There was chaos during the Ram Navami procession in Murshidabad, West Bengal on Wednesday. Many people have been injured in the clash. The incident took place in Shaktipur area on Wednesday evening. A video is going viral on social media in which it is seen that some people are pelting stones from their rooftops at the Ram Navami procession. After the violent incident, police had to resort to lathi charge and use tear gas shells to disperse the tense crowd. Police said the situation is now under control and additional forces have been sent to the area. The injured have been taken to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital in Baharampur. The state BJP alleged that stones were pelted at the rally and shops were vandalized.
Opposition leader in West Bengal, Suvendu Choudhary said that permission was taken from the administration to take out the procession on Ram Navami but miscreants attacked the procession in Shaktipul Beldanga-2 block of Murshidabad. He said that the police fired tear gas shells to end the procession suddenly, tear gas shells were fired on Ram devotees. Baharampur MP and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary visited the area on Wednesday evening.
