Stones pelted from rooftops at Ram Navami procession in West Bengal, many injured

There was chaos during the Ram Navami procession in Murshidabad, West Bengal on Wednesday. Many people have been injured in the clash. The incident took place in Shaktipur area on Wednesday evening. A video is going viral on social media in which it is seen that some people are pelting stones from their rooftops at the Ram Navami procession. After the violent incident, police had to resort to lathi charge and use tear gas shells to disperse the tense crowd. Police said the situation is now under control and additional forces have been sent to the area. The injured have been taken to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital in Baharampur. The state BJP alleged that stones were pelted at the rally and shops were vandalized.

Opposition leader in West Bengal, Suvendu Choudhary said that permission was taken from the administration to take out the procession on Ram Navami but miscreants attacked the procession in Shaktipul Beldanga-2 block of Murshidabad. The strange thing is that this time in this gruesome attack, Mamata met the police miscreants. He said that the police fired tear gas shells to end the procession suddenly, tear gas shells were fired on Ram devotees. Baharampur MP and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary visited the area on Wednesday evening.

He said that I have come to Malda to meet the people injured in the clash. But BJP workers protested in the hospital, claiming that Hindus were being attacked and demanding answers from me. Protestors should ask those who want answers. He said that riots were being instigated as per a plan and the BJP opposition has proved this. I have spoken to the Election Commission. Additional forces have been sent to Shaktipur and SP is on the spot.

Let us tell you here that this incident happened after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee warned of a storm on Ram Navami in Murshidabad. His comments come after the Election Commission removed the Murshidabad Inspector General of Police over violence in the district and alleged lack of supervision by officials. CM Mamata said on Monday that the DIG of Murshidabad was transferred only on the instructions of BJP. Now if there are riots in Murshidabad and Malda, the responsibility will be on the Election Commission. BJP wanted to change police officers to incite riots and violence. If any accident happens, ECI will be responsible as they are maintaining law and order here.
