Dubai, known as the desert, is currently struggling with floods. Famous shopping malls have been flooded. Cars are floating in parking lots and roads have turned into lakes. The situation has become such that even airports have been submerged in floods and even runways are not visible. The city's driverless metro system has also come to a standstill. The question is, how did it rain so much suddenly on the sandy soil? What is the reason for such floods? This confusion is seen in everyone's mind. Anyway, some scientists said that a mistake has been made in the use of this science, due to which the entire city is suffering the consequences.
Scientists say that planes were flown for cloud seeding on Monday and Tuesday. Cloud seeding is a technique through which artificial rainfall is generated. But the entire plan failed when a cloud burst in an attempt to create artificial rain. It is said that so much rain fell in just a few hours as it did in one and a half years. Its effect was that the entire city was submerged in water and there was such a flood in Dubai that no one had ever imagined. Apart from Dubai, the condition of another city Fujirah is also similar. It has rained up to 5.7 inches here.
One person died in Ras Al-Khaimah due to this rain. He was passing by in his car but was washed away in the flood waters. Such a situation arose in Mall of the Emirates, one of the world's largest shopping centers, that water started dripping from the roofs. Not only this, the roofs of some shops also collapsed. Those who know the weather of Dubai say that it has never rained so much in the last 75 years of history. Sharjah City Center and Deira City Center have also been damaged due to this rain.
Movement of aircraft has been stopped at Dubai Airport. Not only this, the cars parked in the parking lot have also been submerged in water to such an extent that it is not possible to take them out. All the houses and colonies are flooded. At present, Dubai authorities have sent tankers and water is being drained. Dubai has received 142 mm of rain in just 24 hours. There is an average of 94.7 million rainfall in a year. In this way, about one and a half year's worth of rain fell in just a few hours.
There is generally very little rainfall in the UAE. It is almost dry throughout the year, with very little rainfall during the rainy months. Due to less rainfall, there has not been much drainage system. Not only this, apart from UAE, countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar also receive less rainfall. This is the condition of most of the countries of the Arabian Gulf.
A year's worth of rain in just 24 hours
Rain in UAE started from the night of 15 April and after this it received 160 mm of rain. That means one year's rainfall occurred in just 24 hours. Cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain were the most affected. It is very hot in the UAE throughout the year. The temperature sometimes reaches 50 °C. Due to water shortage, the government here conducts cloud seeding every year. That means artificial rain occurs. But this time it became a disaster. It is being said that this is the reason for the problem. Dubai Authority flew planes for cloud seeding on Monday and Tuesday and the planes flew a total of seven times in two days. Rainfall Enhancement Program is underway in UAE. Due to which scientists conduct physical and chemical tests of the UAE's environment every time. In which aerosols and polluting elements are specially examined. Then the process of cloud formation begins.
Cloud seeding every year
After this it is decided how often cloud seeding should be done and how many times cloud seeding aircraft will be flown for this. Eventually the plane reaches cloud height and releases the chemicals. So that it rains. The United Arab Emirates adopts this process for cloud seeding every year. But this time scientists are giving clues in this process. Questions also arise over the chemicals involved in cloud seeding. The main objective of this technology is to meet the demand of water.
