Delhi Liquor Policy Case : A hearing was held today regarding the bail of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is lodged in Tihar Jail in the liquor policy scam. In which the ED claimed, 'They are deliberately eating sweets to increase their sugar level to get bail on medical grounds.' ED told the court, 'Kejriwal has type-2 diabetes, but he is deliberately eating aloo-puri, sweets and mangoes in jail to get medical bail.
What did ED say in court on Kejriwal's health?
ED said, 'The court has given permission to give them home food. Jail DG has sent Kejriwal's diet plan. He has BP problem, but look at what he is eating – Batekani Puri, Mango…'
ED said, 'We have never heard of a person suffering from type-2 diabetes eating such things, but they are eating bateka-puri, mangoes and sweet things every day. They are eating such things to get medical bail.
Following ED's arguments, the court has sought a report from the jail administration on Kejriwal's eating habits. Now the hearing of this case will be held on Friday.
What did Kejriwal's lawyer say?
On ED's claim, Kejriwal's lawyer said, 'ED is giving such statements to the media. Can a person suffering from diabetes eat such things?
Kejriwal's lawyer withdrew the petition
Let us tell you that the lawyer had filed an application in the Rouse Avenue Court and said, 'Kejriwal is a diabetic patient, hence he should be given regular advice by the doctor through video conferencing.' However, his lawyer has withdrawn this application. In response to this petition, ED argued in the court.
Kejriwal was arrested on 23 April
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in the alleged liquor scam of Delhi. Before this, ED has issued summons to him 9 times for questioning. However, he did not appear on any of the summonses. After his arrest, Kejriwal remained in ED custody for about 10 days. After this the court sent him to judicial custody for 15 days on 1 April and then for 23 days on 15 April. At present Kejriwal will remain lodged in Tihar Jail till 23rd April. The Supreme Court will hear the petition challenging the arrest on April 29.
