29 Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh, 3 soldiers injured

Bastar: Voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections is going to be held on 19th. Before this election, there was heavy firing between security forces and Naxalites in Bastar province of Chhattisgarh. 29 Naxalites have been killed in an encounter with security forces. While three soldiers are also injured. A large quantity of weapons have also been recovered from the Naxalites. Acting on information about Naxalites hiding in the forests, a team of BSF and District Reserve Guard personnel had gone out for an anti-Naxal operation, during which heavy firing took place.

Sundarraj P, IG of Chhattisgarh's Naxal-affected Bastar range, said that the encounter continued for hours, during which 29 Naxalites, including a Naxalite commander, were killed and their bodies were recovered. Besides, AK-47, SLR, INSAS and .303 rifles, 3 LMGs have also been recovered from the Naxalites. Voting for Lok Sabha elections is to be held in Bastar region on 19 April. Keeping this in mind, a campaign is being conducted to search for Naxalites. During one such operation, both the Naxalite gang and the security forces came face to face. There is still a possibility of Naxalites hiding in the forests of Bastar, after which a search operation has been started. This year, a total of 79 Naxalites have been killed in the operations conducted by security forces and police in seven districts of Bastar province. On 2nd of this month, 13 Naxalites were killed in Bijapur district, that is, this is the second major operation against Naxalites in a single month. At the same time, a reward of Rs 5 lakh and a job in the police department has been announced by the local police for giving information or any kind of information about Naxalites in Kabirdham area.

Police is distributing posters of information and rewards in tribal areas. Such posters are also being put up by the police, especially in Naxal affected villages. There are about 41 villages in this area, police have received information that the movement of Naxalites has increased in this Kabirdham district in the last two years. Police have also broadcast messages on about 35,000 mobile numbers in the village to give information about Naxalites and get rewards. A target has been set to send this message to one lakh mobile numbers in the last one week.

663 Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh in 10 years, 418 soldiers martyred

According to the Home Ministry report, Chhattisgarh ranks second among Naxal affected states, 14 districts of the state are the most sensitive, more than 300 Naxal attacks occur every year in these areas. According to statistics, between 2013 and 2022 i.e. in 10 years, more than three thousand Naxalite attacks have taken place in Chhattisgarh. In which 418 soldiers have been martyred. While 663 Naxalites have also been killed. In the recent operation, a Naxalite squad commander Shankar Rao has also been killed. Police had announced a reward of Rs 25 lakh on Shankar. Shankar was commanding a squad of Naxalites who were killed in the attack.
