BJP objects to Congress' 'guarantee card' amid Lok Sabha elections, complains to Election Commission – News India Live

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP, which contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the name of Modi's guarantee, has now raised objection to Congress's guarantee card. In this matter, BJP termed Congress's door-to-door guarantee campaign as a corrupt practice like bribery and demanded the Election Commission to stop it.

BJP alleged

The BJP said the campaign was launched by Congress president Mallika Arjun Kharge on April 3 and party workers are visiting people and distributing guarantee cards and handing over application forms to them to get the benefits as promised by the party.

Complained to the Election Commission

In the complaint made to the Election Commission in this matter, BJP said that the signatures of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Kharge are on the card. Such initiatives shake the confidence of voters. This is, first of all, a violation of the principle of free, independent and fair elections. Accusing the Code of Conduct and IPC, BJP said that the opposition's campaign comes under corruption and bribery.

BJP made this demand

The BJP had filed a complaint before the Election Commission demanding that the Congress be immediately restrained from issuing guarantee cards or any material or publishing, broadcasting and distribution for the purpose of promoting electoral fraud and luring voters.
