MP: Chief Minister will inaugurate the 50th Khajuraho Dance Festival-2024 on Tuesday

Bhopal, 19 February (HS). Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate “Khajuraho Dance Festival-2024” on Tuesday, February 20. The land of World Heritage Site Khajuraho will once again resonate with dignified presentations of classical dance. Khajuraho Dance Festival started in the year 1975. This year it is celebrating its golden jubilee. To make this achievement special and memorable, Kathak Kumbh is being organized by the Culture Department, in which on the first day on 20th February, 1500 to 1800 Kathak dance artists created a “world record” by presenting the mass dance “Kathak Kumbh”. ' will be installed.

Rehearsals were conducted by the cast on Monday evening, the eve of the ceremony. This presentation is being choreographed by Pt. Rajendra Gangani. During this, Culture Director NP Namdev, Deputy Director Vandana Pandey, Director of Ustad Ulauddin Khan Music and Arts Academy Jayant Bhise and other officials were present.

Khajuraho Dance Festival is organized every year in Khajuraho by the Culture Department through Ustad Alauddin Khan Academy of Music and Arts in collaboration with Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department and Archaeological Survey of India. This festival will be organized till 26 February on the huge Muktakashi stage between the Chandela era Kandariya Mahadev Temple and Devi Jagadamba Temple in the Western Temple Group complex.

Ashok Mishra, the officer in-charge of “Adivarta Museum”, Khajuraho, said that the museum will organize the national festival of traditional arts, Lokaranjan, from 20 to 26 February every day from 05 pm. MP VD Sharma, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, Principal Secretary Shiv Shekhar Shukla, Culture Director NP Namdev will be present at the inauguration of the ceremony. Artists of major classical dance styles like Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Satriya will perform in the Khajuraho dance festival. Vocal performances along with tribal and folk dances from different states will be given in the folk entertainment function.

Adventure lovers will get a gift from Madhya Pradesh Tourism.

During the festival, tourists coming to Khajuraho from India and abroad will also get a thrilling experience. Various exciting activities will be organized by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. For adventure lovers Sky Diving (20-25 February 2024), Camping, Trail Joy Ride, Water Adventure, Speed ​​Boat, Banana Ride, Shikara Bid, Rafting, Village Tour, E-Bike Tour, Raneh Fall Tour, Datla Pahad, Segway Activities like tour, Khajuraho night tour, farm tour will be organized.

Madhya Pradesh Rupankar Art Award/Exhibition and Decoration

Madhya Pradesh Rupankar Art Award/Exhibition and Decoration will be held on the first day of Khajuraho Mahotsav. In this, ten state level awards established by the state government in the name of famous Rupankar artists of the state will be given to the selected artists.

Various activities will take place during the festival

Backstage-Cultural scenario and Kalayatra of Indian dance styles will be organised. Under the exhibition, costumes, jewellery, ornaments, literature and musical instruments of classical, folk and tribal dance forms as well as painting styles and festivals, i.e. art and culture in its entirety, will be displayed.

Kalavarta – dialogue between artists and artists

Along with cultural dialogue between art connoisseurs and artists from different cultural disciplines, representatives of various art forms, presenters, art critics, connoisseurs and scholars will have serious discussions with the audience on Indian arts and the philosophy underlying them.

Fair of skills-indigenous knowledge and art tradition

In the Hunar Shilp Mela, the manufacturing process, technology and design upgradation of craft traditions like clay craft, wood craft, iron craft, bamboo craft, textile weaving-dyeing-printing etc. made by designers/artists as per the tradition of all classes will be demonstrated.

Under the Art-Mart Art Exhibition, artists of fine arts like sculpture, painting, photography, printmaking, wood craft etc. display their works.

Samashti: Terracotta and Ceramic National Exhibition-Workshop

Artists working on terracotta and ceramic medium from across the country will showcase the creative movements arising within them in the exhibition. Samashti workshop is being organized with the aim of encouraging the old tradition of clay crafts in Indian culture. As other dance activities, “Folk Dance” presentations will be organized by Daksha Central Cultural Centre, Nagpur.

Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal is organizing an exhibition of 50 prints awarded by the international jury, 'Vartani', in the international 'Print Vinale', which mainly includes Japan, Korea, Switzerland, France, India, Iran. Pictures of artists from Norway, Sweden and America have been included.

Layshala: Disciple Conference and Workshop with Great Gurus

A workshop will be organized focusing on the dialogues between gurus and their disciples of various dance styles across the country and the best artists of different genres and their genres. This will give great pleasure to the connoisseurs and art lovers. Students will become familiar with the dance styles of different gharanas and will feel proud by participating in the Layshala program in the Khajuraho dance festival.
