Dehradun, 16 April (HS). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has caught and arrested an assistant engineer of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Dehradun, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
CBI has registered a case against Assistant Engineer CPWD Dehradun on charges of demanding bribe. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 5.50 lakh from the complainant to allow him to continue the construction work of the residential colony at Seemadwar Dehradun uninterrupted. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while taking Rs 1 lakh from the complainant. CBI searched the residential premises of the accused officer and recovered Rs 20 lakh 49 thousand 500. Some objectionable documents were also recovered. The accused will be presented before the court on Wednesday. CBI is engaged in investigation.
