Bhopal, 16 April (HS). Increase voter awareness activities further. Make voters aware by taking every necessary measure to bring them to the polling booth and ensure maximum voting. The effort should be that the voting percentage in the Lok Sabha elections should be more than that in the Assembly elections.
State Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan gave these instructions to all collectors and district election officers, district nodal officers of SVEEP and commissioners of all municipal corporations of the state through video conferencing on Tuesday. He said that to increase the voting percentage, such attractive activities should be organized so that the voters are automatically motivated to vote.
Make polling stations voter friendly
Chief Electoral Officer Rajan said that all collectors should make polling stations voter friendly. Voters who come to the polling station to vote should not face any kind of inconvenience. For this, all appropriate arrangements should be made in the polling station. Shade, cold water, medicine, ORS packets should be available in the polling booth. All arrangements should be made so that the polling party or anyone else in need of medical assistance can get immediate treatment. Paramedical staff were also present along with sector officers.
Deploy additional staff to avoid long queues
He told all the collectors and district election officers that voters should not have to wait in long lines to cast their vote. For this, they can also appoint additional employees in polling stations. Try to ensure that voters cast their votes in the shortest possible time.
inspect storage centers
Rajan said that all the collectors should thoroughly inspect all types of warehouses and storage centers in their area and see whether any kind of illegal material or objectionable item is stored there. For this, they should further strengthen their information and monitoring system.
Follow the protocol in letter and spirit
He said that all Collectors and District Election Officers should ensure to strictly follow the SOP (protocols) prescribed by the Election Commission of India for the necessary activities to be carried out 72 hours, 48 hours and 24 hours before the voting and remove the shortcomings.
The results of restrictive actions must be visible
Chief Electoral Officer Rajan asked all the collectors to take strict preventive action against criminal elements. Get such notices served immediately and also inform everyone about such action through the media. The results of restrictive actions should also be visible. To strictly control the criminal elements, make them district commanders and also get them monitored.
Voter slip and voter guide should be distributed soon
Rajan said that all collectors and district election officers should distribute voter slips and voter guides as soon as possible to inform voters about their polling stations. Also invite voters to come to the polling station in various ways. Get EVMs commissioned properly. Maintain complete transparency in every election work and try to ensure that political parties or candidates or their representatives are present during every election related process.
