Sarabjit reached Pakistan unknowingly
Sarabjit Singh was a farmer living in Bhikhiwind village of Tarn Taran district on the India-Pakistan border. On August 30, 1990, he unknowingly reached Pakistani border. Here the Pakistani army arrested him. Then his age was 26 years. In the letter, Sarabjit declared himself innocent and wrote, 'I am a very poor farmer and I have been arrested on the basis of mistaken identity. On the night of 28 August 1990, I was badly drunk and crossed the border while walking. When I was caught at the border, I was beaten brutally. I couldn't even see who was hitting me. I was chained and blindfolded.
For months, food was mixed with something or the other.

Sarabjit's last days were spent in trouble
Sarabjit wrote this letter when the pain in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat jail became unbearable, but the behavior of the jail officials was worse than that of a butcher. Expressing his fear of being given slow poison in jail, Sarabjit wrote, 'Whenever my pain becomes unbearable and I ask for pain medication from the jail authorities, I am made fun of.
