S Jaishankar expressed concern about the 17 Indian crew members on board the ship
The statement further said that the Indian Foreign Minister has expressed concern about the 17 Indian crew members aboard the seized ship and has sought Iran's help in this matter. Abdullahia said they were gathering information about the seized ship and would soon make it possible for representatives of the Indian government to meet the crew on board the ship.
The ship is in the possession of Iran's Revolutionary Guards
Last Saturday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a commando and seized an Israeli ship near the Strait of Hormuz. This cargo ship was coming to India from UAE. The Revolutionary Guards said the ship was seized over allegations it had ties to Israel. The ship, named MSC Aries, belongs to London-based company Zodiac Group, which is said to be owned by Israeli billionaire Ian Boffer. When the ship was seized by Iran, the Portuguese flag was flying on the ship at the time of the capture.
