New Delhi: The dates for Lok Sabha elections 2024 have been announced. All the parties are busy preparing for the elections. As soon as elections come, parties and candidates always use the power of money to woo voters. This time also the situation is similar, but this year the Election Commission has taken the biggest action till date on the use of money power.
The Election Commission on Monday said officials under its watch are seizing Rs 100 crore every day since March 1 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The commission said enforcement officials have seized Rs 4,650 crore even before the start of voting for the Lok Sabha elections and this is more than the 'total seizure' made in the 2019 elections.
Highest recovery in 75 years history
With the 2024 general elections around the corner, the ECI is on track to seize the highest amount of cash recorded in the country's 75-year history of Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission said in a statement. Even before the money laundering crackdown began on Friday, enforcement agencies have made a record seizure of over Rs 4,650 crore.
