Deepotsav and Mahalakshmi worship celebrated on the new moon day of Kartik month is the most sacred festival of Indian culture and Sanatan tradition. It is believed that by worshiping Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha and Kuber Dev with devotion on this holy night, poverty, financial crisis and negative energy gets eliminated from the life of the seeker forever. However, according to astrology and religious texts, the full results of Diwali puja are achieved only when the puja is performed with complete devotion, purity and following the correct rules. Often small mistakes or mistakes made unknowingly create obstacles in achieving the full results of the puja. Therefore, this Diwali, if you also want happiness, peace, prosperity and permanent residence of Goddess Lakshmi in your family, then it is very important to keep in mind the main rules related to worship, the correct method and detailed information about ‘what to do and what not to do’.
On the day of Diwali puja, after waking up before sunrise in the morning, taking bath and meditation, first of all perform sacred cleaning of the entire house, especially the north-east corner (north-east direction) and the place of worship by sprinkling Ganga water. Place a arch of mango or Ashoka leaves at the main entrance of the house and decorate the footprints and rangoli of Goddess Lakshmi, because auspicious energy enters from the main entrance only. While starting the puja in the auspicious time in the evening, install new idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Ganesh ji by spreading red or yellow cloth on a wooden post, in which Ganesh ji should always be kept on the left side of Lakshmi ji. In the puja, offer red roses, lotus flowers, lotus flowers, cowries, Gomti Chakra, lump of turmeric, coriander, batasha and kheer to the Goddess of Wealth. Apart from this, light the main lamp of Chaumukhi Desi Ghee in the North-East or North direction which should remain lit throughout the night. Sitting facing north or east during puja is considered extremely auspicious and fruitful.
According to the scriptures, one should strictly avoid doing certain activities on the holy night of Diwali worship so that Goddess Lakshmi is not displeased. Do not keep broken idols, broken utensils, stopped watches or rusty old items in the place of worship or in any corner of the house, these should be thrown out of the house before Diwali. Do not wear black, brown or dark blue colored clothes during worship; Instead, it is extremely auspicious to wear new clothes of red, yellow, pink or orange colour. During Lakshmi Puja, do not let any kind of domestic dispute, anger, abuse or disrespect towards elders in the house, because Goddess Lakshmi never resides in a house where there is unrest. Apart from this, avoid offering Tulsi Dal or Durva (which should not be offered to Goddess Lakshmi) in the puja and do not completely close the main door of the house till late night after the Aarti. By following these rules regularly, there will be prosperity and immense wealth in your life.
