IIM experts will enhance the enterprises of rural women, 150 units will get training: Keshav Prasad Maurya

Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow have joined hands to make the rural women of the state economically self-reliant and transform their small businesses into strong enterprises. On Friday, the agreement for the Rural Enterprise Incubation Program was signed between the Enterprise Incubation Center of IIM Lucknow (IIML-EIC) and UPSRLM. IIM Lucknow Director Yamini Bhushan Pandey and Mission Director Arun Kumar signed the agreement.

Regarding this initiative, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya had held a joint meeting with the concerned officials and institutions before the draft of the agreement was prepared. He had given clear instructions that the interest of rural women should remain paramount in the outline of the program. Transparency should be maintained at every level from selection to financial assistance and training and the entire process should be completed in a time bound manner.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that for me the economic development of women comes first. Women associated with self-help groups have the ability to run enterprises and the passion to work hard. What is needed is to provide them with the right training, technical knowledge, markets and capital. The government’s effort is that rural women should not be limited to just earning a living, but should also provide employment to others by becoming successful entrepreneurs.

Taking aim at the functioning of the previous governments, Shri Maurya said that earlier the rule of ’80 out of 100 is ours’ was adopted. Our government is a double engine government which delivers 100 percent of the entitlement of the poor into their accounts. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the benefits of the schemes are reaching the eligible people directly. The priority of the government is that the poor and women should get the full benefit of the funds earmarked for them.
