UP: Bloody conflict over land dispute, deadly attack on the elder sister and pregnant daughter-in-law of the Minister of State; Many injured, tension in the village

A sensational case of violent clash over a land dispute has come to light in Uttar Pradesh, in which close relatives of a woman minister of the Uttar Pradesh government have been targeted. The long-running dispute over ancestral land and bund in the village suddenly took a bloody turn. A heated altercation started between the two sides, which soon turned into a bloody clash with sticks, sharp weapons and bricks and stones. In this unexpected attack, the elder sister of the state government minister and her pregnant daughter-in-law were left bleeding severely. After the incident, huge tension spread in the area and a large number of villagers quickly gathered at the spot.

According to eyewitnesses and family members, people from the other party suddenly mobilized and attacked the disputed land over occupation and plowing. When the women of the house came to intervene, the attackers had no mercy on them either. The minister’s elder sister was thrown on the ground and beaten, resulting in serious injuries on her head and hand. At the same time, the pregnant daughter-in-law of the family was also brutally beaten with sticks and kicks, due to which her condition remains critical. When the nearby villagers came running after hearing the screams, the attackers fled from the spot threatening to kill them.

Immediately after the incident, the family members took the seriously injured minister’s sister and pregnant daughter-in-law to the nearby Community Health Center (CHC). Seeing the serious condition of both of them, after first aid, the doctors referred them to the district hospital. According to doctors, the pregnant woman has suffered serious injuries in her stomach and lower back, due to which ultrasound and other necessary tests are being conducted so that the condition of the fetus can be kept safe. At the same time, stitches have been placed on the deep wound on the head of the minister’s elderly sister and she is currently kept under the strict supervision of doctors.

Since it was a case related to the family of a state government minister, as soon as the information was received, top police and administrative officials of the district reached the hospital and the spot with heavy police force. Based on the complaint filed by the victim, the police have registered a case against named and unidentified accused under various serious sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS)—assault with deadly weapon, rioting, intentionally causing grievous hurt and brutality against women. Officials say that no culprit who takes law and order into his own hands will be spared and everyone will be identified and strict legal action will be ensured.

There has been tense peace in the village since the incident, in view of which, as a precautionary measure, additional police forces and PAC have been deployed around the village and the disputed land. The local intelligence system is also keeping a close watch on the situation so that the possibility of any kind of conflict can be prevented again. The Superintendent of Police has formed three separate teams of SWAT and local police station to nab the absconding accused, who are continuously raiding suspicious hideouts and houses of possible relatives. The Revenue Department team has also been summoned so that a permanent solution to the root cause of the dispute can be found by measuring the documents and boundaries of the disputed land.
