When IAS Aditya Ranjan reached school, the little girl made a demand

An example of administrative sensitivity and prompt action has emerged in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand which has won the hearts of the entire region. When Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhanbad, IAS Aditya Ranjan, reached the primary school, Kistopur, located in Govindpur block, for a surprise inspection, a unique and inspiring sight was seen there. During the inspection, a small student of the school, without any hesitation, went straight to the Deputy Commissioner and placed an innocent demand of getting a computer installed to connect with modern education. Seeing this eagerness and courage of the little girl towards studies, IAS officer Aditya Ranjan was so impressed that he ordered immediate action. Due to this quick and sensitive initiative of Dhanbad DC, the computer setup reached the school within just 48 hours (two days). Let us know what happened during the inspection of this government school and how a small demand of a girl changed the picture of the entire school.

Innocent demand of little girl student and DC’s listening sensitively during surprise inspection

Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan had reached Kistopur Primary School of Govindpur block on October 28 to take stock of the educational facilities and infrastructure available. While he was inspecting the classes and communicating with the children about their studies, a little girl student came forward and talked to the Deputy Commissioner. The student very simply requested that her school should also have computer facility so that she and her classmates can also learn technical knowledge and get involved in digital education. Apart from this, the children also requested to develop a playground in the school and construct a boundary wall for security. DC Aditya Ranjan not only listened to the child carefully, but was also extremely impressed by the girl’s eagerness to learn and digital thinking and on the spot ordered the officers to work on priority basis.

Promise fulfilled in just 48 hours: Computer reached school on 31 October

Generally, government processes take time to dispose of files, but IAS Aditya Ranjan’s working style is known for his quick decision-making ability and sensitivity. Just two days after the inspection, i.e. on 31st October, the computer set was delivered and installed in Kistopur Primary School of Govindpur. As soon as the consignment of computers was unloaded in the school premises from the administrative vehicle, the faces of the students lit up with joy. There was so much enthusiasm among the children to see and use the computer that the entire school echoed with applause and laughter. Now the children of this remote government primary school will also be able to learn basic computer knowledge and digital skills along with their regular curriculum.

Family members and local villagers appreciated, officer’s model discussed in the district

As soon as the news of this initiative of Dhanbad DC spread in the village and surrounding areas, there was a wave of happiness among the local villagers and parents. The parents of the children highly appreciated this prompt action of Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan and said that only a sensitive officer can understand the feelings and needs of the children so quickly. Aditya Ranjan, a 2015 batch IAS officer, has been popular in the past for his innovations, quick decisions and reforms in the education sector. This incident of Kistopur School has once again proved that if the administrative intentions are clear, then there is no delay in shaping the future of the children and even a small wish can change the fate of the entire school.
