Weather patterns changed in Bihar: Red alert of heavy rain in Sitamarhi and Madhubani

Once again a big and dangerous change is being seen in the weather of Bihar. Due to the impact of cyclonic storm ‘Arnab’ arising from the Bay of Bengal and humid winds, heavy rains and thunderstorms have started in most of the districts of the state. In view of the worsening situation in the state, the Meteorological Center (IMD) has warned of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall for two major districts of North Bihar—Sitamarhi and Madhubani. Red Alert Has been released. Along with this, Orange and Yellow alerts have been declared at different levels in more than 16 districts of the state. Due to continuous rains, a huge drop of 5 to 7 degrees Celsius has been recorded in the temperature, due to which shivering cold and light fog in the morning is felt in the last days of October. Let us know the condition of various districts of Bihar and what are the necessary safety measures in this latest report of the Meteorological Department.

According to the warning issued by the Meteorological Department, the border districts of North Bihar, Sitamarhi and Madhubani, are in greatest danger due to the impact of the cyclone. There is a strong possibility of torrential to extremely heavy rains in many areas of these two districts. There are dark clouds in the sky and there is a severe danger of strong winds as well as thunder and lightning (lightning). The Local Administration and Disaster Management Department has appealed to the citizens of these two red alert districts to come out of their homes only when absolutely necessary and stay in safe places. Do not take shelter at all under trees or electric poles during bad weather, because the incidence of lightning has increased significantly in bad weather in the last few days.

Other parts of the state including the capital Patna have also been receiving intermittent rains for the last few days. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning in many districts including West Champaran, East Champaran and Darbhanga, where there is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and heavy rain. Apart from this, about one and a half dozen districts including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Purnia, Katihar and Bhagalpur have been kept in the Yellow Zone. There has been a warning of light to moderate rain along with lightning in these areas. Due to continuous monsoon and cyclonic rains, the temperature in many districts including Patna has dropped by 4 to 6 degrees, due to which people have started feeling slight cold.

This sudden cyclonic change and unseasonal rains in the last phase of October have increased the problems of the farmers of Bihar. The paddy crop which is on the verge of harvesting or is standing ready for ripening in the fields is feared to suffer huge losses due to this strong wind and heavy rain. Agricultural experts have advised farmers that if their harvested crops are lying in the fields, they should immediately keep them safe in safe places or under high sheds. Paddy and vegetable crops may get damaged due to waterlogging in the fields. The government and local administrative staff are also continuously monitoring the situation of the farmers so that any possible loss can be assessed in time.

The Disaster Management Department and the Meteorological Center have jointly issued an advisory for the general public. People have been asked to stay inside permanent houses or safe buildings during the storm. Avoid standing near raw houses or dilapidated walls. It has been advised to take special care of children and the elderly because sudden change in weather and cold also increases the risk of seasonal diseases. The Meteorological Department estimates that the effect of this weather system may continue in many parts of the state for the next 24 to 48 hours, after which the weather is expected to clear gradually. However, till then there is a strong need for people to remain completely cautious.
