BJP still dominates social media

In the digital world, elections are fought not only on the ground but also on social media. Since 2014, social media has become an important weapon for election campaigning. An online campaign also gives an almost clear picture of the public mood and ground level facts. The growth of social media pages and accounts of BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party as well as Trinamool Congress was analyzed to find out who is the social media king this election season. Along with this, the data of the leaders of these political parties for the months of January, February and March was also analyzed. Analysis shows that BJP's dominance on social media continues and its lead is overshadowing other political parties. However, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party have been ahead of BJP in terms of adding new users on Instagram and YouTube. Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress party is currently the third largest party in the Lok Sabha. But compared to other parties, TMC's presence on social media is very less. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is sitting at the forefront among the leaders of all the big parties.

X Factor

Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter) is proving to be an X factor for political parties too. So far this year, followers of every party have increased continuously. However, the Aam Aadmi Party lost around 1,200 followers in January. On X, BJP added 1.2 lakh followers per month in January and February. Whereas in the month of March, 1.7 lakh new users joined the party's X account. According to analytical firm Social Blade, the followers of Congress Party increased by 59 thousand in January, by 70 thousand in February and by 1.08 lakh in March. As far as TM is concerned, its followers increased by 1,600, 1,800 and 6,400 respectively from January to March.

What's trending on YouTube now?

Aam Aadmi Party's performance on YouTube has been quite good. That is, if we talk about adding new subscribers, then the subscribers of Congress and Aam Aadmi Party have been continuously increasing on YouTube, whereas the YouTube channel of BJP is continuously declining. 5.9 lakh subscribers were added on YouTube in three months. The party added more than 3.6 lakh subscribers in the month of March, while the BJP added 5.3 lakh and Congress five subscribers in three months, while TMC gained only 28,000 subscribers.

BJP got crores of views on YouTube

Despite the decrease in subscribers, this video has received crores of views on BJP's YouTube channel. BJP's video has received more than 43 crore views in three months. After this, Aam Aadmi Party's video got 30.78 crore views and Congress's video got 16.69 crore views. According to statistics, TMC's YouTube channel was viewed 9.3 crore times.

Between January and March, 26 lakh new followers increased on Modi's X account, while Rahul Gandhi got five lakh, Kejriwal got one lakh and Mamata Banerjee got 52 thousand new followers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is most active on X compared to other leaders. In three months he made 1,365 posts. In comparison, Rahul Gandhi made 187 posts and Kejriwal made 270 posts. About 8.8 crore users follow PM Modi on Instagram. Between January and March, his number of followers increased by 52 lakh, while Rahul's number of followers increased by 12 lakh and Kejriwal's number of followers increased by 3 lakh.
