The election decision of Patna Graduate Constituency, which is considered the most high-profile and famous of Bihar Legislative Council, has come. This seat, which was in the headlines since the beginning due to the aggressive attitude and statements of Mokama’s strong MLA Anant Singh, has finally created history by winning the victory of senior leader of Janata Dal United (JDU), Neeraj Kumar. After the completion of counting of votes, the picture of official and round wise figures has become completely clear. The main contest in this election was between the ruling JDU, the main opposition party RJD (RJD), Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party and Congress candidates.
#1 Victory decided by quota system: After the fourth round, Neeraj Kumar achieved the figure of decisive votes.
The winner of the Patna Graduation seat was decided on the basis of quota system of preferential votes instead of traditional majority. The minimum quota required for victory was decided based on the total number of valid votes polled. JDU candidate Neeraj Kumar maintained his lead from the initial phase. In the first round of counting, Neeraj Kumar got 2,149 first preference votes, while his nearest rival RJD candidate got 2,041 votes. After the final round of counting and completion of the process of eliminative round, Neeraj Kumar won by successfully securing the minimum quota and created a record of becoming MLC for the fourth consecutive time.
#1 Complete mathematics of votes received by Neeraj, Dilip, Anuj and Asadullah
According to the official report that came out from the counting centre, the details of the total votes received by the candidates and their final ranking were as follows:
-
Neeraj Kumar (JDU – Winner): By achieving the winning quota by combining first preference and transfer votes, he stood first and won.
-
Dilip Kumar Patel (RJD – Runner-up): RJD candidate stood second. He gave a tough competition to Neeraj Kumar but fell short of the magic quota figure.
-
Dr. Anuj Kumar Singh (Jan Suraj – 3rd position): Despite the open support of Mokama MLA Anant Singh, Jan Suraj candidate slipped to third place.
-
Dr. Asadullah Khan (Congress – 4th position): Congress got very less votes and their candidates were reduced to fourth position.
#1 Anant Singh’s ‘Power Game’ did not work: Bahubali’s claims and false promises exposed
This election result has given the biggest political blow to former Mokama MLA Anant Singh. During the election campaign, Anant Singh had openly claimed to have confiscated the security deposit of JDU candidate Neeraj Kumar and to make Jan Suraj candidate Anuj Singh win with bumper votes. Due to this rebellion, JDU also expelled Anant Singh from the party for 6 years. However, when the results came out, instead of muscle power and rhetoric, the public approved Neeraj Kumar’s 18 years of parliamentary experience and development work. After the results, Anant Singh also accepted defeat and said that “the public is the master and whatever the public elects will happen”.
#1 Neeraj Kumar created history: became MLC for the fourth time after a hat-trick of consecutive wins since 2008
Neeraj Kumar, who reached JDU office after his landslide victory, was given a grand welcome by the workers. Talking to journalists after the victory, he attributed this success to the policies of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the hard work of NDA workers. Neeraj Kumar’s political journey has been very inspiring. After losing his first election in 2002, he was elected MLC for the first time in 2008. After this, by capturing this prestigious seat for the fourth consecutive time in 2014, 2020 and now in 2026, he has proved that his support base in the Patna graduate area is unbreakable.
