Petrol Diesel Price 28 October: What changed in the prices of petrol and diesel after Karva Chauth? See the latest prices of Delhi, Lucknow and Mumbai

New Delhi/Business Desk. Amidst the continuous fluctuations in the prices of crude oil in the international market, oil marketing companies (OMCs) at the national level have released the latest rates of petrol and diesel for October 28. According to the daily price list released at 6 am by Indian oil companies such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, there was no major change in fuel prices in most parts of the country today and the rates remained largely stable.

The stability of prices during the festive season has provided direct relief to common consumers, daily commuters and transporters involved in freight movement. However, due to differences in local sales tax i.e. Value Added Tax (VAT) and freight charges in different states, the retail prices of petrol and diesel remain different in every city and district.

In the country’s national capital New Delhi, the price of petrol is stable at ₹ 102.12 per liter and diesel at ₹ 95.20 per liter. Due to high taxes in the country’s financial capital Mumbai, petrol is being sold at ₹ 111.21 per liter and diesel at ₹ 97.83 per litre. Whereas in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, the price of petrol remains around ₹ 113.51 per liter and diesel around ₹ 99.70 per liter.

In Chennai, the major center of South India, petrol is available at around ₹ 102.63 per liter and diesel at ₹ 94.24 per liter. In Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur, petrol is trading at ₹ 113.19 and diesel at ₹ 98.25 per liter.

Talking about major cities of Uttar Pradesh, petrol in the provincial capital Lucknow remains stable at ₹ 101.86 per liter and diesel at ₹ 95.36 per liter. The same rates are applicable at petrol pumps in major areas of Lucknow like Hazratganj, Gomti Nagar, Alambagh and Indiranagar since morning.

Prices are also showing a stable trend in the National Capital Region i.e. NCR districts Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida/Greater Noida) and Ghaziabad adjacent to Delhi. Petrol in Noida has been recorded around ₹96.79 per liter and diesel around ₹89.96 per litre. In other big districts like Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Meerut and Agra, the retail prices of fuel remain within the controlled range, except for minor differences in local octroi and cess.

There is continuous movement in the prices of Brent crude and WTI crude in the global commodity markets due to geopolitical tensions and global demand trends. Crude oil prices in the international market are hovering around $71 to $75 per barrel. Despite this, domestic oil companies have maintained stable retail prices for a long time, which has protected consumers from global shocks.

The final retail price (RSP) of petrol and diesel in India is not determined solely by the cost of crude oil. This includes the base price as well as the central excise duty imposed by the central government, the dealer’s fixed commission, various VAT charged by the state governments and local body charges. This is the reason why petrol prices change in Uttar Pradesh or Haryana as soon as you cross the border of Delhi.

There is no need to go to the petrol pump to know the changes in fuel prices at any time. Consumers can instantly know the latest price of their nearest pump by just sending an SMS from their mobile phone.

  • Indian Oil (IOCL) Customers: Go to the message box of your phone and write RSP, type the dealer code of your city by giving a space and send it to 9224992249.
