A targeted subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder is sent directly to the eligible beneficiaries of the central government’s ‘Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana’ (PMUY) into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This means that for Ujjwala Yojana cardholders, this cylinder effectively costs ₹642 in Delhi and approximately ₹679.50 in Lucknow. This special subsidy is payable to Ujjwala families on a maximum of 12 refill cylinders in a financial year. To avoid problems like delay or leakage at the time of cylinder delivery, oil companies have made ‘pre-delivery check’ mandatory. Whenever the hawker or delivery agent brings the cylinder to your home, first of all check the safety seal and plastic cap on the upper part of the cylinder. After this, get the gross weight of the cylinder weighed on the portable spring balance scale available with the delivery man. Including the weight of 14.2 kg of gas and about 15 to 16 kg of empty cylinder, the total weight should be between about 29.5 to 30.5 kg. If any variation in weight is noticed or smell of leakage coming from the valve, refuse to accept the delivery and immediately lodge a complaint on the helpline number of your agency.
