Bollywood’s ‘Dabangg’ i.e. Salman Khan is known for his films as well as his outspoken and fearless style. It is very difficult to find an example of the success he has achieved from the film screen to real life. Often when a superstar’s career and life is so full of ups and downs, it is natural that there are discussions about making a biopic on his life. In recent years, blockbuster biopic films have been made on the lives of many legendary personalities, sportspersons and actors in Indian cinema. In such a situation, this question was floating among the fans and film makers for a long time whether a film will ever be made on the life story of Salman Khan? But now Salman Khan himself has put an end to this issue and given a statement which has surprised the entire Bollywood and its fans. Salman has made it clear in very harsh and blunt words that he never wants any biopic to be made on his life. After his statement, discussions have once again intensified in the film circles.
Recently, during a program or interview, when Salman Khan was asked a question about the possibilities of making his biopic, he expressed his views without any hesitation. Salman said that his life is not an open book which can be easily portrayed on screen. Smiling but in his trademark style, he said in a serious tone that my life will go to the grave with me and I would never want anyone to make a biopic on my life. According to Salman, there have been many such things, secrets and incidents in his life which only he understands better. Even if someone tries to make a film on him, he will never be able to do justice to the truth. This statement of Dabangg Khan is enough to show that he is strictly against earning money or making headlines by selling the pages of his personal life on screen.
Salman Khan’s Bollywood career has spanned more than three decades. During this time, he has created new records of success, but his life has not been limited to stardom only. His life has included many ups and downs, court cases, personal relationships and major controversies. Any biopic will either show these sensitive issues, which is likely to create more controversy, or hide them completely and present a fictional story, which will be a betrayal to the audience. Salman Khan knows very well that if a film is made on him, it will never be able to show 100% truth. No director or actor can accurately capture every detail of his life on screen. This is the reason why he has completely rejected any such possibility in time so that in future no one tries to cash in on his life story.
In today’s era, when there is a race to make a biopic on the life of almost every big star and famous personality of Bollywood, then this stand of Salman Khan makes him stand out from the crowd. From Sanjay Dutt to MS Dhoni, successful films have been made on many legends and they have also been superhits at the box office. However, Salman Khan is known for living life on his own terms. He believes that there is no need to create a spectacle in front of the public about the moments that have passed and the stories that have been a part of his life. For him, his work, his films and his social work i.e. ‘being human’ are his identity. He wants the audience to remember him through his acting and his work, and not to make a film by highlighting the controversies and pages of his personal life.
As soon as this statement of Salman Khan came out, there was a flood of reactions from his fans on social media. While on one hand millions of his fans are a little disappointed that they will not be able to see the unseen aspects of their favorite star’s life on the big screen, on the other hand most of the people are praising this fearless and honest decision of Salman. Fans say that this is what makes Salman a real ‘Bhaijaan’ because he never resorts to any artificiality. Film critics also believe that this decision of Salman Khan is completely practical. It is almost impossible to make an unbiased biopic on any living superstar in Bollywood, and Salman has readily accepted this fact. This decision of Salman has made it clear that he is the master of his own life and the secret of his life will remain with him only.
