Weather patterns changed after departure of monsoon in Jharkhand

The south-west monsoon has completely departed from Jharkhand, but the seasonal patterns of the state continue to fluctuate. According to the latest forecast released by the Weather Center Ranchi of India Meteorological Department (IMD), after the departure of monsoon, pink cold has started being felt in the morning and late night in the state, while a slight increase in temperature is being recorded due to sunshine in the afternoon. Today, the maximum temperature in the state capital Ranchi is likely to be 28°C to 29°C, while in the state’s industrial capital Jamshedpur the temperature will reach between 32°C to 34°C. According to meteorologists, the sky will be mainly clear in the entire state during the coming 3-4 days and the possibility of rain is minimal.

According to the data of the Meteorological Department, the difference in temperature can be clearly seen in different parts of the state. A slight gust of wind is being felt in the morning and evening winds in Ranchi and surrounding plateau areas. The minimum temperature in the capital Ranchi has dropped to 20°C, which has increased shivering at night. On the contrary, there is slight warmth and humidity in Jamshedpur, Chaibasa and Seraikela areas of Kolhan division with the day temperature hovering around 34°C. In Dumka, Deoghar and Dhanbad districts of Santal Pargana, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 31°C to 33°C. Due to this change in weather, health experts have advised children and the elderly to take extra precautions in the changing weather.

According to the Indian Meteorological Centre, the performance of monsoon in Jharkhand has been normal this year and now the flow of north-easterly winds is gradually becoming active. Due to its effect, there has been a huge reduction in the moisture coming from the Bay of Bengal and dry winds have started blowing. The Meteorological Department believes that from the last week of October, there will be a rapid drop in the minimum temperature across the state, due to which a layer of fog will start appearing at night and early morning. By the festivals of Dhanteras and Diwali, the effect of cold will be fully felt in Jharkhand.

Due to the weather being completely dry and clear, the Meteorological Department has declared this time suitable for the farmers of the state for harvesting of paddy crop and sowing of Rabi crops (like mustard, gram and wheat). Farmers working in open fields no longer face any major risk of crop damage due to rain. However, due to the sudden difference of 10 to 12 degrees in day and night temperatures, there is an increase in the number of patients suffering from viral fever, cold and cough, for which doctors have advised to use light warm clothes at night.
