After the court gave its historic verdict in the much-discussed Saurabh murder case, deceased Saurabh’s mother Renu Devi started crying emotionally in the court premises itself. When the special court convicted Saurabh’s wife Muskaan and her lover Sahil and awarded death penalty, there was silence in the entire court room.
While talking to the media after the verdict, Saurabh’s mother recalled that tense moment in the court room and said, “As soon as the judge sat on his chair, my heart dropped. Heart beats were so fast that I could not understand what would happen. But as soon as the judge announced the death sentence for both of them, it felt as if the soul of my innocent son would have got some peace today. There is delay in God’s house, not darkness.”
Saurabh’s mother said that the son whom she raised by holding her finger was brutally killed by his own wife along with her lover. He said with a choked voice:

Trust in Judiciary: Thanking the court and the police administration, he said that the law has proved that no matter how vicious someone is, the truth always prevails.

Nothing less than hanging was acceptable: The mother said that for the cruelty with which Saurabh was killed, there could be no punishment less than death by hanging. If both of them had been given life imprisonment, perhaps they would have suffocated inside, but after hearing the death sentence, it felt that justice is alive.
After this murder, the most painful situation was faced by Saurabh and Muskaan’s little daughter (granddaughter), who lost her father and her mother was proved to be a murderer and went behind the bars.
Saurabh’s mother became very emotional when asked about her granddaughter’s future. He said:

“Now that is the last sign of Saurabh”: The mother said that the innocent boy had no fault in this whole crime. For him now he is the incarnation of his late son Saurabh.

Complete responsibility of upbringing: She clarified that as long as she breathes, she will keep her granddaughter close to her heart and give her the love of both mother and father.

Facing the truth: She said that when the girl grows up, she will definitely tell her how good a person her father was and how much injustice was done to him, but she will not let this dark shadow fall on the girl’s future and will educate her and make her a good person.
It is noteworthy that this case came into limelight when Saurabh was murdered under suspicious circumstances. Intensive police investigation, call detail records and forensic evidence revealed that Saurabh’s wife Muskaan, along with her lover Sahil, had conspired to murder her own husband.
Considering this as ‘rarest of rare’ case, the court sentenced both the culprits to death and gave a clear message that there will be no leniency in the law for such heinous crimes that tarnish relationships.
