Putting into practice the resolve of making Uttar Pradesh a one trillion dollar economy, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has given a new impetus to industrial investment in the areas around Noida International Airport, Jewar. After the review meeting of the High Level Plot Allotment Committee organized by YIDA, allotment of land to 25 big national and multinational industrial groups in various sectors has been approved. Through these projects, a huge capital investment of Rs 3,155.67 crore will be implemented in the region. Most importantly, the full operationalization of these new industrial units will create new opportunities for more than 9,000 direct and indirect jobs for the local youth of Western Uttar Pradesh. This allocation, just ahead of the upcoming commercial operation of Jewar Airport, is proving to be a major milestone in making the Yamuna Expressway area the most modern manufacturing hub of the country.
The 25 companies that have been given plots by the authority are involved in high-tech and modern manufacturing sectors. These units will be established mainly in Sectors 28, 29, 32 and 33:
-
Data Center and IT Hardware: In view of the growing demand for Digital India and cloud computing, two leading technology firms are going to set up a state-of-the-art green data center park with an investment of about ₹1,200 crore.
-
Electric Vehicle (EV) and Battery Components: To strengthen the supply chain of pollution-free vehicles, priority has been given to units manufacturing EV chargers, lithium-ion battery pack assemblies and motor control units.
-
Electronics and Semiconductor Support Industry: Large plots have been allotted to international companies manufacturing semiconductor chip packaging, display units, printed circuit boards (PCBs) and mobile components.
-
Packaging, Pharma and Precision Engineering: Space has also been earmarked for factories producing advanced medical devices and global export-oriented automobile parts.
The biggest reason behind companies choosing Yamuna Expressway area is its world-class infrastructure and strategic geographical location:
-
Zero-Distance Logistics from Airport: The direct connectivity with Jewar Airport’s cargo terminal will allow companies to export their products to global markets within a matter of hours.
-
Multi-Modal Transport Network: The Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Link, Yamuna Expressway and the proposed Rapid Rail (RRTS) and Pod Taxi corridor have brought this entire area just 40 to 60 minutes away from any corner of Delhi-NCR.
-
Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC): Through the nearby Dadri and Bodaki multi-modal logistics hubs, it has become very cheap and easy to transport raw materials and finished products to the ports by goods trains.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and senior administrative officers of YIDA have clarified that the old practice of merely occupying land and sitting has now been completely abolished:
-
Local Employment Rules: Under the agreement with the companies, local skilled, semi-skilled and diploma holder youth will be given preference in employment on technical and non-technical posts, which will directly support the local economy.
-
Guaranteed Timely Construction: It will be mandatory for all 25 companies to complete the construction of their factories and start production within 24 to 36 months of the lease deed being executed. There is a provision to impose heavy penalty and cancel the allotment if the work is not started within the stipulated time.
-
Single Window Clearance ‘Nivesh Mitra’: All necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) related to pollution control, fire fighting, electricity and water supply are being provided to the companies in a timely manner on a single digital platform so that no project gets stuck due to red tape.
This mega industrial hub, which is taking shape around Jewar Airport, is not limited to Gautam Buddha Nagar only but is giving new energy to the entire economic corridor up to Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura and Agra. Real estate and industry analysts believe that as soon as regular flights start from Jewar Airport, this area will be established as India’s largest corporate and manufacturing center on the lines of Gurugram and Bengaluru. This latest investment of Rs 3,155 crore by 25 new companies is a strong proof that even in the times of global recession and uncertainty, the unwavering faith of international and domestic investors on the law and order, industrial policies and ease of doing business of Uttar Pradesh is continuously getting stronger.
