A big and relief news is coming for the agriculture and food farmers of Jharkhand, which is bringing happiness on the faces of the rural economy and paddy producing farmers of the state. Jharkhand Government and Food Supply Department have announced the official dates for the upcoming Paddy Procurement Season (Paddy Procurement Season 2026-27), under which the procurement of paddy at Minimum Support Price (MSP) across the state will officially start from December 15. With this step of the government, there is full hope that lakhs of farmers of the state will get the right price for their hard work, so that they are not forced to sell their crops to middlemen and at throwaway prices. However, this time the state government has implemented some new and strict rules while maintaining transparency for the farmers selling paddy, in which e-KYC and physical and online land verification have been made completely mandatory. Unless farmers complete these technical processes, their paddy will not be purchased in government PACS or trade boards. Let us know in detail in this article today what is the entire process of paddy procurement in Jharkhand and what rules farmers have to follow.
To promote agriculture in Jharkhand and strengthen the economic condition of farmers, every year the government purchases paddy directly from farmers through PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Society) and trade boards. This year also, paddy will be purchased from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) set by the Central Government, in which different rates have been fixed for normal paddy and Grade-A paddy. Payment to farmers for their produce will be sent directly to their Aadhaar linked bank accounts (through DBT) so that there is no scope for middlemen or any kind of corruption. It is the endeavor of the government that no real farmer of the state is deprived of selling his crop. This is the reason why the work of registration of farmers and verification of documents is started on a war footing several weeks before the start of paddy procurement.
In the last few years, during the paddy procurement process, many such complaints were coming to light in which fake farmers or middlemen were taking advantage of MSP from the government treasury in the name of others or by preparing fake documents. To completely curb such fraud and corruption, the Jharkhand government has made e-KYC and online verification of land documents mandatory this time. Under this, every registered farmer selling paddy will have to link his Aadhar card with his mobile number and get e-KYC done through biometric or OTP. Along with this, the complete record of how much land is in the name of the farmer, whether he is a raiyat (own land) or a sharecropper (cultivator on lease), will be verified from the Circle Office and the Revenue Department portal. If any discrepancy is found in the documents of a farmer, his registration can be cancelled.
Any farmer who wants to sell his paddy to the Jharkhand government this year will have to register himself on the portal of the Department of Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs within the stipulated time. For registration, it is mandatory for farmers to upload Aadhar Card, copy of bank passbook, updated land receipt, LPC (Land Possession Certificate) and self declaration form. Agriculture Department officials have given strict instructions to the PACS presidents and cooperative extension officers of all the districts to organize camps in the villages and provide full help to the farmers in the process of e-KYC and land verification so that no Annadata faces any inconvenience. Farmers who complete their process on time will be issued tokens first in the procurement process starting from December 15 and they will be able to sell their paddy easily.
