As the excitement of Legislative Council (MLC) elections is gaining momentum in the politics of Bihar, big and tough decisions have started coming out from the corridors of power. From the capital Patna to the districts, the political temperature is currently at its peak because the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and NDA leadership have now decided to fight all out against indiscipline. Deputy Chief Minister of the state and one of the top leaders of BJP state, Samrat Chaudhary has issued a very strict and final warning to all those rebel and disgruntled leaders of the party who have filed their nominations against the official candidates. The party leadership has bluntly said that if the rebellious leaders do not withdraw their names within the stipulated time limit, then disciplinary action will be taken against them and their primary membership will be directly terminated and they will be shown the way out of the party. After this ultimatum, there is a strong discussion in the political circles whether today Samrat Chaudhary is really going to take down the wicket of any big rebel leader.
This time everything is not going well within the NDA regarding the elections to be held for the vacant seats of graduate and teacher constituencies of Bihar Legislative Council. Despite coordination of seats between the alliance parties on many seats, strong local level leaders and workers have raised the flag of rebellion. In many districts, old and powerful leaders of the party have filed their nomination papers in front of the authorized candidates of BJP and JDU with the support of independent or opposition camp, which has dealt a huge blow to the official strategy of the party. A series of meetings were going on for the last several days to resolve these internal disputes between the opposition parties and the new political equations, but when the talks did not work out, now the party has taken a tough decision to show strictness.
Sensing the seriousness of the matter, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has given a clear message to the media and party forums that discipline within the party is paramount. He said that before taking on Rashtriya Janata Dal or other parties, the party will have to deal with indiscipline within its own house. Those leaders who are trying to sink their own party by ignoring party ticket distribution and decisions of higher leadership will not be spared at any cost. Quoting sources, news is also coming out that the state president and top officials of the organization have prepared a long list of all such rebels and have given them clear instructions to think for the last time and withdraw their nominations.
Political experts believe that today is going to prove to be very decisive in this battle of MLC elections. If the rebel leaders ignore this ultimatum of the top leadership of the party and remain firm in the field, then the BJP and NDA leadership can take immediate action and not only expel them from the party, but can also give a big blow to their future political equations. On the other hand, a section of rebel leaders are still adamant and say that decisions have been imposed by ignoring the workers at the local level, due to which they have had to take this step. However, this attitude of Samrat Chaudhary has made it clear that this time the days of softness in the politics of Bihar are over and the strength of the organization is going to be paramount.
