Just before the big show of strength to be held in the national capital Delhi on October 10, political activities have reached its peak. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has claimed that the police administration has started arresting its key officials to crush the proposed movement at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. As soon as the news of organization’s co-incharge Deepak Baliyan being forcibly detained by the police from Rajasthan came to light, there has been a huge boil in the opposition camp. Taking a very sharp stance on this action, the Congress Party has directly accused the NDA government at the Center of stifling democracy and adopting a dictatorial attitude.
A huge gathering of youth and student organizations has been announced at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10, in which a large number of youth from different parts of the country are claimed to participate. Amidst the preparations for this mega demonstration, senior CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka shared a series of posts on social media platform X late on Thursday night and informed about the police action. He told that the national co-in-charge of the organization Deepak Baliyan has been suddenly forcibly picked up by the Rajasthan Police and taken to the police station. The organization alleges that leaders are being arrested in a planned manner to stop the peaceful protest and create fear among the workers.
As soon as the news of the detention of CJP leaders came to light, sharp reactions from the opposition parties started emerging. Chief spokesperson of Bihar Congress, Dr. Snehasish Vardhan issued a direct statement on this matter and said that arresting any opposition leader or organization worker who has raised his voice to protect democracy without any solid basis in this manner is completely undemocratic and unacceptable. He termed this entire incident as a clear result of the nervousness and frustration of the NDA government. The Congress spokesperson said that it is the constitutional right of every citizen to express their views peacefully, but the ruling party is trying to crush every democratic protest of the opposition with the help of police force.
On this occasion, Dr. Snehashish Vardhan also mentioned the functioning of the Election Commission and the old controversies of alleged vote theft. He said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had already warned the entire country through ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ during Bihar elections about electoral irregularities under the guise of Special Summary Revision (SIR). Congress alleges that the government has been implementing its policies under the guise of constitutional institutions and now when the public is ready to take to the streets and demand answers, repressive steps are being taken against the protesters. The Congress leader claims that seeing the unity of the opposition parties and the anger of the youth, the government has been continuously on the backfoot and due to this fear such actions are being taken.
