
Lucknow, 8 October. On the instructions of Yogi Government, teams of District Administration, Municipal Corporation, LDA, NDRF, SDRF and Police Administration are continuously running relief and rescue operations to provide relief and necessary facilities to the flood affected citizens. In this sequence, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal along with Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar conducted on-site inspection of various flood affected areas and took stock of the status of relief works.
Mayor Sushma Kharkwal inspected various areas of Zone-3 including Lohramau, Faizullaganj, Daud Nagar and Millat Nagar. Apart from this, he reached Hayat Nagar, Sehtha village and Gulmi Kheda of Zone-6 via boat and interacted with the affected citizens and took information about their problems and needs. During this, he distributed food packets, drinking water and essential medicines to the affected people. Besides, instructions were also given to the officials to ensure continuous availability of relief material.
800 food packets distributed in Dawood Nagar, Mama Colony and Lohramau
The Municipal Corporation Administration is continuously working to deliver food packets to the needy citizens in the flood affected areas. According to information received from administrative officials, about 800 food packets were distributed in Dawood Nagar, Mama Colony and Lohramau. Apart from this, more than 1450 food packets were distributed in various affected settlements and streets in both the hours of the day. In the first half, about 250 food packets were distributed in the Housing Institute area, 180 in Daulat Kheda and Munnu Kheda, 150 in the street of Hayat Nagar and Lakshmi Hospital, 185 in Tand Kheda, about 50 in the street behind Baravan Kala and MC Saxena and 80 in other parts of Hayat Nagar. At the same time, about 650 food packets were distributed in the second half. As per need and demand, food packets are being provided to the affected areas twice a day.
Investigation of arrangements in health camp
During the inspection, the Mayor also inspected the health camp established in the affected area and took information about medicines and health facilities. Taking feedback from the doctors and health team, he directed that timely treatment and medicines should be provided to the flood affected citizens. It was also asked to ensure immediate action on any health related problem. During this, the control room established for flood affected areas was also inspected. He took information from the officials about the information received from the citizens and the status of relief operations. He also directed the officials to provide clean, quality and nutritious food packets to the people regularly at all times.
LDA installed 26 pumping sets
At the same time, LDA has intensified the relief operation to deal with the waterlogging in Ekana Stadium, Plasio Mall and surrounding areas due to the rise in the water level of Gomti River. At the place from where Gomti water was entering the planning area, a strong temporary barrier has been created by placing boulders and soil. 26 pumping sets have been installed for drainage, due to which considerable improvement was recorded in the waterlogging situation till 5 pm on Thursday.
Lucknow Development Authority Vice Chairman Prathamesh Kumar and Secretary Sushil Pratap Singh inspected the affected areas and gave instructions to speed up the relief work. After this, manpower in different pockets has been increased by one and a half times. LDA officers, engineers and employees are on duty 24 hours in three shifts to monitor and deal with emergency situations. In view of security, CG City Urban Wetland and Naval Shaurya Vatika have been closed for visitors till further orders.
