Example given of Defense Expo and Mahakumbh, instructions for preparation at the same level

8 October, Lucknow. Taking lessons from the situation that unfolded in Chennai Air Show in October 2024, preparations are being made for the Air Force Day aerial display in Kashi. There will be a separate response plan at all three levels, air, Ganga and land, to deal with any emergency. NDRF expertise will also be taken. The complete blueprint of the preparations has been placed before Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. After seeing the presentation, the Chief Minister said that this is a state event for us. Uttar Pradesh has shown its strength and preparation in Defense Expo and Mahakumbh. He instructed to prepare for the air show at the same level.

Air Force Day aerial display is proposed in Varanasi on 22, 24 and 25 October. In the presentation of the preparations, the crowd situation during the Chennai Air Show was kept separately. After this, the crowd management plan prepared for Kashi has been described. It is clear from this that emergency arrangements are being made keeping in mind the situation unfolding in Chennai.

Be it an accident in the air or in the Ganga, the response will be decided in advance.
In case of any emergency during the air show, different departments will not have to wait for arrangements to be made on the spot. The action plan includes making disaster management and contingency plans for possible incidents in air, water and land. NDRF expertise will be taken for this. That means, whether there is an emergency in the air, an incident in the Ganga or a sudden worsening of the situation on the ground, the response for all three will be decided in advance.

For this, Air Force, Railways, Roadways, Waterways, District Administration and Police will be linked together. Coordination among these agencies has been kept as a major requirement in the action plan. There is also a proposal to call magistrates from other districts and collect additional resources if needed.

Three control rooms, green corridor till the hospital
A network is also being prepared from receiving information in case of emergency till taking the patient to the hospital. For this, there will be three control rooms of Integrated, CMO and Emergency Line. There is a plan to create a green corridor for uninterrupted movement of ambulances to the hospital. 170 emergency and 44 ICU beds have been identified in government and private hospitals.

Medical backup includes seven government hospitals within a 20 km radius of the venue and seven private hospitals within a 15 km radius of the venue. 23 blood banks are also identified. 58 ambulances will be available in Varanasi. Apart from this, 39 ambulances will be called from other districts. In this way, 97 ambulances will be available if needed.

21 committees have different responsibilities
21 committees have been formed for the preparations for the air show. Some committee has to manage the ghats and some have to manage the control room and medical cover. The responsibilities of venue, PA system, invitations and passes, welcome and accommodation, transportation, videography-photography and media management have also been divided separately. A Ghat Management Committee has been formed from Namo Ghat to Assi and Ravidas Ghat and another committee has been formed for Ramnagar-Domri area.

Separate committee to keep an eye on birds
A separate ‘Bird Control Committee’ has also been formed in preparation. This committee will work on challenges related to birds during the air show. A separate ‘Transport Committee (Land and River)’ has been formed for movement by road and Ganga. The responsibility of operating the control room and medical cover has also been given to different committees.
