How did this terrible accident of dam breaking of Ranihara Dam happen?

Ranihara Dam, located in Silli block of Ranchi district, has been a major source of irrigation for local farmers for a long time. Due to the continuous rains in the area for the last few days or the excessive pressure of the water level, the capacity of this old and dilapidated dam has given way. According to the local villagers, there was a problem of leakage in a part of the dam for a long time, about which written and verbal complaints were made several times to the officials of the Irrigation Department, but due to administrative negligence, it was not taken care of in time. As a result, due to the increasing water pressure, a large part of the dam suddenly collapsed with a loud noise and within no time a huge flood of water rushed towards the residential areas. This sudden disaster has once again proved how negligence and corruption of government departments poses a serious threat to the lives and livelihood of innocent villagers.

Farmers have demanded a special relief package and compensation for crop loss from the state government and district administration with immediate effect.

Administrative staff lost sleep, phase of investigation and compensation assurance begins

In view of the seriousness of the incident, senior officials of Ranchi district administration have reached the spot and the situation is being assessed. Instructions have been issued by the government that immediate relief should be provided to the affected families and those whose houses have been damaged or crops destroyed should be assessed on a war footing. However, the villagers are angry over the fact that every time the administration wakes up only after some major incident.
