BSF killed 2 Pakistani infiltrators on Punjab border, Pakistan summoned Indian diplomat and expressed strong protest.

The vigilance of security forces on the international border between India and Pakistan has once again paid off. Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on the Punjab border have foiled a major infiltration attempt and killed two suspected Pakistani infiltrators. Frustrated by this strict military action, Pakistan has now taken a strong stand and registered its protest.

Expressing objection over this incident, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has summoned the senior diplomat (in-charge) of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad and formally expressed its displeasure before him. Pakistan claims that the two killed were civilians, while Indian security forces have clarified that they were armed or trying to cross the border forcibly under suspicious circumstances.

This entire incident took place on Friday afternoon near the India-Pakistan international border in the sensitive Tarn Taran district of Punjab. According to information received from Tarn Taran Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP Bhikhiwind) Atul Soni, three suspicious persons were trying to secretly enter the Indian border from the Pakistani side.

When the BSF sentry posted on the border saw these suspects moving forward, he warned them to stop immediately. Of the three persons in the team, one person ran back towards Pakistan after receiving the warning, but the other two persons completely ignored the warnings of the soldiers and continued to insist on entering inside the Indian border. Following the security protocol and protecting the sovereignty of the country, the BSF soldiers were forced to open fire, killing both the intruders on the spot. Immediately after the incident, senior military and police officials took stock of the spot and started the legal process to identify the dead.

On the other hand, after this entire action, Pakistan’s diplomatic attitude has been as clear as ever. Pakistan’s Foreign Office has issued a statement clearly denying the issue of infiltration. Pakistan has claimed that the two killed were civilians who were roaming in the border area and had inadvertently crossed the international border into Indian territory.

Pakistan termed the BSF action as ‘excessive use of force’ and alleged that the deadly attack on unarmed civilians was carried out without any major provocation, which is allegedly a violation of international human rights. Not only this, the Government of Pakistan has also demanded from India to conduct an immediate, impartial and transparent investigation into this entire incident. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry also said that appropriate action should be taken against the security personnel responsible for this action and they should be informed about the results of the investigation. However, Indian security forces are fully prepared to protect the country’s borders and are ready to give a befitting reply to any nefarious act.
