Strong Panchayat, prosperous village is the foundation stone of Gram Swaraj, there is no place for familial model in it: Chief Minister

Lucknow, 2 October. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that his government is working considering villages not as the last step of development, but as the first unit of the self-reliant Uttar Pradesh of the new India. Strong Panchayats and prosperous villages are the cornerstone of Gram Swaraj, in which there is no place for the familial model.

In a post shared on his official social media handle X, the Chief Minister said that before the year 2017, the villages did not get development, only promises. Politics continued to be played in the name of villages, but there was a lack of transparency and accountability in the system. Even for simple tasks like income and caste certificates, villagers had to make rounds of tehsil, police station and district headquarters. The development of rural areas was affected due to politics seeing villages only as vote banks. The present government has made changes in the system and worked on connecting Gram Panchayats with facilities and services.

Digital facilities in 57,600 village secretariats
The Chief Minister wrote in his post that in the last nine and a half years, arrangements have been made to provide various facilities like e-Gram Swaraj, digital payments, online monitoring to the villagers through 57,600 village secretariats of the state. This has ensured transparency and accountability in the functioning of Gram Panchayats. Due to the operation of village secretariats, 5 to 7 employment opportunities have also been created in each village. Along with this, digital libraries are being established in 11,350 gram panchayats of the state.

Gram Swaraj told the resolution of self-reliance
The Chief Minister said that for the government, Gram Swaraj is not a political slogan, but a resolution of Mahatma Gandhi’s dream village and its self-reliance. Strong Panchayat and prosperous villages are the foundation stone of Gram Swaraj and self-reliant Uttar Pradesh. There is no place for the familial model in this system of Gram Swaraj. The Chief Minister underlined “Strong Panchayats, Prosperous Villages and Self-reliant Uttar Pradesh” as the government’s vision towards Gram Swaraj.
