Flydubai’s hero Captain Smit Mosquito is calm and generous, he did not lose his temper even in difficult times.

Captain Smit Machar of flydubai, who recently came into limelight in the international aviation world for his indomitable bravery and wisdom, has set an example by saving the lives of 174 passengers and crew members without caring for his own life. When the co-pilot suddenly attacked him inside the cockpit of a flight going from Dubai to Tel Aviv, the way he showed restraint in moments of extreme crisis surprised the whole world. However, for those who know 39-year-old Smit personally and over the years, his calm and bold move is nothing new, as his entire life has always been dedicated to simplicity and helping others.

His neighbors and childhood friends living in Swastik Heights, Tilak Nagar, Mumbai remember him as a very down-to-earth, lively and helpful person. His neighbor Laxmikant Joshi says that Smit was always at the forefront to help others. When his father had bypass surgery, Smit went straight to the hospital as soon as he reached India from abroad and stood like a rock with every member of the family during the entire treatment process. Be it teaching children how to tie the right knot in a rope to hoist the flag on Independence Day at society functions or taking care of the small needs of his friends, Smit never let himself be proud of his success or position.

Captain Smit Machhar’s colleague and friend from flying school days, Captain Dharav Gosaliya, says that Smit is as good a pilot as he is a good human being. He is one of those people whose calm and collected nature will impress you whenever you meet him. From the ground staff, loaders, engineers to the catering personnel working at the airport, Smit treats everyone with utmost cordiality and equal respect.

He completed his 10th class from MD Bhatia School in the year 2003. According to his old school friends, he was very carefree, truthful and far away from the world of show. When he was training for a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) at New Zealand’s Mainland Aviation College in the late 2000s, he was a great support to his classmates. Be it air navigation or any complex subject related to aircraft technology, whenever a student got into any difficulty during his studies, he would first go to Smit for help. After serving in SpiceJet airline, he moved to Dubai in the year 2022, where he proved his ability as a Boeing 737 captain and line trainer in flydubai airline.

On Wednesday, the situation had become very scary when during the flight the co-pilot suddenly attacked him with Crash-Axe and forced the plane to dive deliberately. The extraordinary mental state that Smit displayed despite suffering severe head and chest injuries and being drenched in blood was truly incredible. In a matter of seconds he restabilized the aircraft, which was falling at 14,000 feet, transmitted the hijack emergency code 7500 and, just before he lost consciousness, opened the cockpit door so that the cabin crew and passengers could come in and subdue the attacker. His calm, stable and fighting nature has today saved the happiness of hundreds of families from being destroyed.
